This week’s dinner menu

Let the miles pile up! I’m in full half-marathon-training mode with the training plan for my upcoming Gazelle Girl in Grand Rapids, Mich., next month calling for increasing mileage. I managed to get all of my runs in, plus do yoga one day this week and a day of cross training.

Today started with a two-miler with el husbando trying — and really liking (I may be over-selling it) — the Jeff Galloway interval plan we did at one minute walk and one minute run. We still did our warm-up and cool-down walks and ended up with two miles altogether.

Right after, I drove out to meet up with my runner friends who managed to get me out for another 8.3 miles. Did I mention the training plan called for 7 miles? Oops.

Okemos Urban Trail

Most of my trail running friends are either traveling for ultras or are running a trail half tomorrow, so I’m not sure if I’ll make it for our weekly trail run.

I did give in and take an hour-long nap this afternoon before running some errands and making dinner, so I’m must now planning our meals for next week. And here’s that plan:

What’s on your menu this week? Do you have any favorite recipes to share?

My name is Gisgie. It’s pronounced geese (like the birds) and gee (like the letter). Now that we’ve met, I’m glad you’re here. I’m an injury-prone runner who manages to find reasons to keep coming back to the road despite ongoing challenges. Most recently, I’ve struggled with piriformis syndrome. I’m currently winning. Most days.
