Bestest finds of the week

I really enjoy finding and reading new blogs, as well as following fellow runners on Twitter and Instagram. So I want to make sure you know about Sunday night #therunchat. Per the website:

“Founded in June 2010 by David Hylton (@RunningBecause) and Scott Miles (@irunnerblog), #RunChat is a Q&A Twitter chat about running held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 10 p.m. ET and the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 8 p.m.ET (5th Sundays are announced a week ahead of time).

“#RunChat is a community for runners of all levels. This community makes runners who will never do more than a 5K all the way to marathon veterans feel welcome.”

So get on Twitter on Sunday nights, search for #therunchat and answer the questions posed. If you’re new to chats, use A1 to answer question one and so on; and use the hashtag so others can read your tweets.

Make sure to create a feed for #therunchat on your Hootsuite account so you can track everyone else’s answers. You won’t regret it.

Tips for what’s bugging you

IMG_4756I don’t know about you, but the skeeters in #LoveLansing are making themselves known this summer. We’re all bit up, and most of the bites are from stepping outside our house, not from camping.

So I found this piece by Theresa Juva-Brown on Run Haven, which gives tips on the best mosquito repellents.

Simple? Yes. Easy? Well…

I suspect that like me, you have the best intention to eat healthy and work out every week. The reality is that the execution is something most of us struggle with.

Runner’s World magazine has seven habits to help you lead a healthier life. I am still trying to implement them all, but dabble in most of them.

Disturbingly entertaining

And because I have teens home for the summer this Shia LaBeouf video has been playing in the background a lot this week. WARNING: If you’re easily creeped out or don’t like being offended, just move along, nothing to see here.

If you watched it…what the what???

Name one movie Shia LaBeouf was in, quick! What do you use to keep the mosquitoes away? Do you schedule your runs or fit them is as you can?

My name is Gisgie. It's pronounced geese (like the birds) and gee (like the letter). Now that we've met, I'm glad you're here. I'm an injury-prone runner who manages to find reasons to keep coming back to the road despite ongoing challenges. Most recently, I've struggled with piriformis syndrome. I'm currently winning. Most days.
